William Florelle makes his much-anticipated return to WotNot with ‘Conjure Up’, the first in a series of singles being released this year.
Produced entirely by Florelle and inspired by themes from ‘The Name of the Wind’ by Patrick Rothfuss, ‘Conjure Up’ follows in the same swung & sultry step as his previous releases’ FSG / Make It Right’ and ‘Two & Three’, but with the debut of his own vocals taking centre stage.
Delicately captivating with its simplicity and mood, ‘Conjure Up’ lets Latin percussive patterns do the walking while an effortless rolling bassline does the talking. Featured guest vocalists Lua (Two & Three) and Shama (The People, The Place) complete the track with a beautiful vocal duet where, in Florelles own words, ‘the lyrics emulate a losing power struggle of sorts, yet they are completely equivocal’.
